History

The Department of Midwifery started its activities in 1986 (when the school of nursing and midwifery was established) by admitting students at the level of Bachelor of Midwifery. Students have been admitting for the master's degree in midwifery since 1990. The master's degree began with two majors, midwifery education and maternal and child health, and then developed three other majors, including forensic midwifery, management in midwifery, and community midwifery. Finally, since 2006, students have been admitting for the PhD program in the field of reproductive health.
